Ecological Effects of Rail Construction
The construction of a rail line to transport wastes would affect wildlife habitat for mule deer, pronghorn antelope, sage grouse, and other species (Fiorenzi, 2000).
The soils found along the proposed rail site are fragile and easily disturbed, difficult to revegetate, and vulnerable to invasion by noxious weeds (Fiorenzi, 2000).
