Drilling

• A well is drilled using large diamond headed drill bits (DOE, 2001)

• Drilling occurs at an average of 30-60 feet per minute (DOE, 2001)

• Once the well is drilled, it is lined with pipe connecting the reservoir to the surface (DOE, 2001)
