Although there are challenges facing fuel cells, they are already starting to be integrated into vehicles, industries, and everyday electrical appliances. Fuel cell developers speculate that there will be 500,000 fixed fuel cells operating worldwide by 2004-05 (Scott, 2001). The major problem of cost has already been addressed, and developers are working on technical problems, such as hydrogen storage tanks. Fuel cells will become more and more popular as these glitches are worked out.
The integration of fuel cells into today’s world is becoming increasingly necessary as this fossil fuel age is soon coming to an end.
