Economic Feasibility

• Until recently, fuel cells were too expensive to build and operate

• Cost about $3500 per kilowatt, versus $1000 to $2000 for fossil fuel turbines

• However, better materials and production methods have resulted in costs for fuel cells that compete with gas and oil generators
