Notes:
Since beginning work with Ballard in 1993, DaimlerChrysler has produced four generations of prototype passenger vehicles (NECAR 1,2, 3, and 4) a prototype transit bus (NEBUS) and the concept Jeep Commander powered by Ballard fuel cells.
The NECAR 4 uses fuel cells to convert hydrogen and oxygen into electricity to power the car. The car released only water vapor into the air, and is more friendly to the environment than traditional gas vehicles. The NECAR 4 is powered by liquid hydrogen stored in an insulated tank in the back of the vehicle. Because H has to be kept cold, Daimler Chrysler admits it is an impractical fuel
