Thesis Statement

Some coastal regions of the United States have and continue to be densely populated. Currently, over half of the population resides on land areas classified as coastal regions (NOAA, 2007). Due to over extraction from an increasing demand for freshwater resources, the coastal aquifers located in these regions are experiencing a hydrologic problem known as saltwater intrusion.
