The coast has always been a very desirable place to live. It provides easy access to a food and transportation sources as well as being an aesthetically pleasing area. The things that draw people to the area will ultimately be the downfall of coastal communities. Development has brought people closer and closer to the oceans. This has impeded natural processes that help to protect and maintain the coastal ecosystem. If the coastal region is not managed and protected responsibly the area will suffer increased erosion which will lead to property damage, loss of habitat and economic losses.
